What We Believe
At the Capital church of Christ we believe in the validity of the bible. Since the beginning of time God had in place a plan for man but we have strayed away form Gods purpose for us. We of the church of Christ seek to bring man back to his originally intended purpose and restore first century values and beliefs to the people of God.
We believe the bible is the inspired word of God (2 Tim 3:16), and the only way by which a Christian should govern their life (1 Cor 9:14). We are undenominational believing that there is one lord one faith and one baptism. Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the head of our congregation and founded it in A.D 33, long before the institution of any denominational doctrines or bodies of believers. Jesus only built one church and the church is the bride of Christ (Matt 16:18, Eph 5:23). By necessity the bride must carry the name of the bride groom; hence we are Christians and Christians only.
We believe that Jesus Christ came to this earth to offer the world a cure for its sin sick condition. Jesus came to this earth to teach men the word of God by example that he might help them to more perfectly understand the will of God (Heb 4:15). Jesus shed his blood and died on the cross of Calvary, releasing those from the bond of sin who are willing to give their lives to him and live faithful until death. We believe that Jesus left this earth to return to heaven to prepare a place for us, and that he will one day return to present us to his father (John 14:2).
According to the bible all must be saved in order to gain eternal life and the chance at getting into heaven. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Rom 3:23). Because of our sin sick condition God gave his only son in our place. The bible teaches us that you must hear the word (Rom 10:17), believe the word (Heb 11:6), repent of your past sins (Luke 13:3), confess Christ as your lord and savior (Matt 10:32-33), and be baptized in water for the remission of your sins (Act 2:38, Mark 16:16). Then and only then can one have access to the true power of life and have the privilege of an relationship with the great God of heaven. We believe that there will be a day of judgment and that all men must give an answer for the things that they have done in their bodies (Rom 14:12). We believe that all have an equal chance at getting into heaven and that those that refuse to believe in Jesus Christ and obey the will of God will be denied access to heaven and eternal life (Mark 16:16). We believe that those who are denied entrance into heaven will have an eternal resting place in hell (Rev 20:15). God has constructed the perfect plan in order to get man back to him; but we need to read and follow directions.
